TAG Heuer hits the mark

TAG Heuer has always been famed for its original and exciting watch advertisements with the latest offering not disappointing its legion of fans: Starring the richest golfer in the world, Tiger Woods and a mystery Formula 1 driver, the advertisement features amazing camera work and effects at a rumored multi million dollar cost to the owners of TAG Heuer, leading luxury goods company LVMH. The current TAG Heuer produced models centre around the racetrack theme with recent release including the Monaco V4, which has a movement that is driven by belts rather than gears and the Carrera Calibre 360 which is the first mechanical wristwatch to measure and display time to 1/100th of a second. The golf connection has also continued with Tiger Woods himself collaborating in 2006 with TAG to produce a watch named ‘The Professional Golf Watch’ which went on to win awards at the International Forum Design in Hanover Germany.

And the mysterious race car driver? Most likely to be Formula 1 star and 2007 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen. Kimi has devoted his passion for design and technology to actively take part in the concept and development of TAG Heuer watches and, more recently, of TAG Heuer Avant-Garde Eyewear line. He wears the TAG Heuer Carrera Racing as well as the New TAG Heuer Formula 1.

Tag Heuer were one of the original companies to use celebrity endorsers for their line of sports themed timepieces and now boast one of the biggest players of all in the form of Tiger Woods: Tiger is reportedly set to be the only ever billionaire golfer, with the majority of his earnings made through endorsements for companies such as Tag. Not satisfied with this huge catch, Tag Heuer also credit Brad Pitt as being one of their stars on the payroll, which has boosted their sales greatly with the younger crowd. Tag are definitely the brand to look to for young, in the media celeb endorsements and change their brand role model periodically.

John Travolta’s passion for flying has made him the obvious choice for super luxury brand Breitling with their aviator style timepieces. Featuring in a series of glossy magazine ad’s, John is seen wearing full flying gear and sporting a serious pose to the cameras. Not the best shot of him ever taken, but hey - it gets the watches bought and on wrists in no time at all!
